We recognize that scheduling and operational needs can change, and we strive to be as flexible as possible while ensuring fairness and consistency in our training delivery. The following guidelines outline how course registrations, transfers, and deferrals are managed.

MHCR Online Modules

The MHCR Online Modules are assigned through the Service’s Administrative Portal. The process is as follows:

  • The Service provides a list of members who may require MHCR training
  • This list is uploaded by the MHCR team into the Administrative Portal, which Service administrators can access
  • Administrators then select which members to register in upcoming training sessions
  • Once registered, each learner receives an email with login instructions and immediate access to the course. At this point, the course fee is charged to the Service

Because each registration grants immediate access to the full set of online modules, these registrations are non-refundable and non-transferrable.

However, once a member is registered, their access to the MHCR Online Modules remains valid for the remainder of the calendar year. This means that even if a learner misses a scheduled training, goes on leave, or encounters other delays, they may complete the online modules at any time before the end of the year.

MHCR-T3 (Online Modules + In-Person Training)

The MHCR-T3 program combines both the online modules and in-person training. Course fees are non-refundable; however, we provide the following options to support Services and learners when changes arise:

Transfers

  • If the online modules have not yet been accessed, a registration may be transferred to another officer from the same Service up to two weeks prior to the in-person training start date, less a 5% administrative fee
  • If no replacement officer is available, or if the cancellation occurs within two weeks of the in-person training, a credit may be applied to the Service’s account—provided the course has not been accessed in MyLS

Deferrals

  • If an officer completes the online modules but is unable to attend the in-person training, they may defer their in-person component for up to one year. Requests should be made as early as possible by emailing MHCR@wlu.ca and are subject to a 5% deferral administration fee
  • Once granted, the officer has one year (from the originally scheduled MHCR-T3 start date) to attend a future session, subject to availability
  • Please note: if an officer does not complete or pass the in-person training component, the registration cannot be credited, transferred, or deferred
  • Only one deferral will be granted per officer

Compassionate and Medical Exceptions

We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise. If a learner is unable to complete their online or in-person training due to medical or compassionate reasons, we encourage Services or individual learners to contact us directly at MHCR@wlu.ca. We will review these situations on a case-by-case basis and work with you to find a reasonable solution.
