We offer three direct-entry minors, which means you can apply to these minors at the same time you apply to your major. Each minor offers different courses and pathways to future studies based on your career goals.

Interested in teaching? Get a head start on a career in education with a foundational course of study focused on teaching.

If you’re a non-business student who is interested in building your business knowledge, this minor could be for you.

Start preparing for a career in healthcare and medical sciences by gaining early exposure to healthcare education.
While most of our honours programs can be taken as minors, there are also some minors that focus on career development and success. Some examples are:
The Leadership Minor is available on all three campuses, as well as online, and consists of 3.0 credits. Courses focus on a variety of topics, including leadership foundations, entrepreneurship, project management, organizational leadership and more.
The Management Minor offers courses on the business environment, human resources, marketing and more that focus on building business and management knowledge. It is designed to be combined with programs from Arts, Science, Music or the department of Economics.
This minor is also available as a direct-entry minor (see more information above).
For the Professional Writing Minor, complete 3.0 credits in courses like Writing for Business, Legal Writing, Technical Writing and more. The Professional Writing Minor is available at the Brantford campus.
In the Social Innovation Minor, offered on the Brantford campus, complete 3.0 credits in courses focused on social entrepreneurship, public and media relations, sustainability and more.
Not all minors are available on all campuses, and not all minors can be added to every program.

Concentrations and specializations are courses within your major that allow you to go deeper into a specific area of study. They are a minimum of 1.5 credits (or three courses) and typically count towards the course requirements for your major.
Concentrations and specializations are typically specific to select programs and are added once you begin your studies at Laurier. Your academic advisor can help you decide which is best for you.
Check the Courses and Program Enhancements section of each program page to see if your program of interest offers concentrations and specializations.
As a Business Administration (BBA) student, you have the option to choose a concentration in your upper years. Each concentration is a minimum of 2.0 credits and cover topics such as entrepreneurship, supply chain management, business and sustainability, and more.
As a Music (BMus) student, choose from a variety of specializations or to pursue a generalist degree. Focus on one or multiple areas by choosing one large specialization, two small specializations or combine one large and one small specialization. Topics include Performance, Music Education, Composition and Community Music.
As a Mathematics (BA or BSc) student, select elective courses in mathematics and statistics from six optional concentrations, including Computational Finance, Statistics and Data Analytics, Financial Risk Management and more.
Psychology (BA) students on the Brantford campus can add this specialization to their degree. Courses include Introduction to the Criminal Justice System, Psychology of Crime, Offender Rehabilitation and Addiction and Crime.
Interdisciplinary courses cover topics or knowledge that extend beyond one discipline or subject. These courses allow you to expand your learning beyond your area of study and connect with students from different programs.
