    A direct-entry Teaching Minor allows you to begin building your teaching and communication skills from the start of your degree, alongside your major.

    Available on our Brantford and Waterloo campuses, you can develop teaching skills through a hands-on experiential placement and future-focused courses in teaching across different cultures and contexts.

    A direct-entry minor can be combined with most degrees; however, some may only be available at specific campuses. See the full list of programs that can be combined with minors.

    In most cases, you will graduate at the same time as you would without a minor—a direct-entry minor is designed to fit within your existing degree.

    No, the courses in a direct-entry Teaching Minor do not count toward Laurier's Bachelor of Education (BEd) and taking these courses does not guarantee preferential treatment in applying for a BEd at any other Faculty of Education.

    A Teaching Minor consists of 4.0 credits: five core half-credit courses offered through the Faculty of Education, plus three elective half-credit courses from an approved list. If you are considering a Teaching Minor, make sure to review the full list of requirements.
