Join us at Laurier

Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

First-Year Entrance Scholarships

All students who are entering postsecondary education for the first time are eligible for our entrance scholarships. Entrance scholarships are based solely on your grades. The best part? No application is required! Depending on your grades, we'll offer you up to $5,000 for your first year at Laurier. When you receive an offer of admission, we will give you a projected scholarship amount based on your current grades. Your final scholarship amount will be based on your best six 4U/M final grades (or equivalent) as of June 30, 2019.

If you’re entering a double-degree program, we’ll assess your entrance scholarship using the program with the higher dollar value.

Awards from our entrance scholarship grid are available to students who are entering Year 1 of an undergraduate program. Recipients must be registered full-time.

Apply for an Entrance Bursary

Based solely on financial need, entrance bursaries are worth up to a maximum of $1,500 and do not need to be repaid. Students who have previously attended a post-secondary institution or who will be studying on an international student visa are not eligible to apply for entrance bursaries. This online application is available from mid-December until the April 9, 2019 deadline.

How to Apply for an Entrance Bursary

  1. Go to the LORIS website.
  2. Log in using your Laurier Network Login username and temporary password, which is present to your date of birth in the format MMDDYYYY. You’ll need to change your password and add secret questions the first time you log in to LORIS.
  3. Select the "Student Awards and Financial Aid" tab and then click on "Student Awards Applications."
  4. You will be prompted to select an aid year and period, which should default to the year you are applying for. Click continue.
  5. Next, you will be prompted to select an application. The entrance bursary application should be the only application you have in your selection list. Click continue.
  6. The next page will ask you to confirm starting the application. Click continue.
  7. You can now begin the process of filling out the entrance bursary application. Follow the steps online and ensure each step is marked "complete."

Note: If you leave the application screen at this point, you can use the "View My Applications" link on the "Student Awards and Financial Aid" tab to return to the application.
