Our online Public Safety programs are uniquely valued by professionals making critical decisions about the safety of Canadians today. Many of our students pursue their studies, online, while working full-time in their chosen fields to advance their careers. Some enrol to open up new career paths, while others look to our Centre for Public Safety and Well-Being to gain mandatory training and online certificates.
With the recent introduction of our combined degrees, students interested in such areas as psychology and sociology are now linking these majors with degrees in public safety or policing to enhance their marketability.
Regardless of how they come into our programs, our students graduate with the essential planning competencies, professional skills and technical knowledge needed to make a difference by contributing to safer, more resilient communities.
A full-time asynchronous online honours degree geared toward those with no postsecondary education. Also offered as a minor or option.
A part-time asynchronous online honours degree suitable for those who have already completed a two-year college diploma in a discipline related to public safety with a 75% GPA. 10.0 transfer credits will be granted.
Earn a double major (honours degree) by combining course work in Public Safety with course work in another pairable subject such as Psychology or Sociology. No prior secondary schooling or experience is required to apply. Note: the Public Safety credits of your combined degree will be completed online.
With a bachelor’s degree in hand, you can go on to complete a four-course graduate diploma in one of the following concentrations: national security, border strategies, countering crime, emergency management. The graduate diploma accounts for half of the courses required for the Master of Public Safety degree.
An asynchronous online part-time professional program for those employed in or seeking employment in the field of public safety. Choose from a concentration in national security, border strategies, countering crime, emergency management, or GIS and data analytics.
A part-time asynchronous online honours degree designed for professionals working in law enforcement with at least one year of experience. Transfer credit in the program may be granted for the completion of OPC, college courses and professional development training. Also offered as a minor.
Earn a double major (honours degree) by combining course work in Policing with course work in another pairable subject such as Psychology or Sociology. No prior secondary schooling or experience is required to apply. Note: the Policing credits of your combined degree will be completed online.
A part-time combined honours degree, offered in an asynchronous online format. Credit for previous postsecondary schooling will be assessed, however no postsecondary schooling is required to apply.
The Centre for Public Safety and Well-Being offers continuing education opportunities for people working or aspiring to work in a wide range of industries, including public safety, health, wellness and well-being.
Within the Centre for Public Safety and Well-Being is the Mental Health Crisis Response (MHCR) Applied Training and Education Program. The program is a scenario-based, community co-designed curriculum that offers enhanced training in de-escalation tactics and communication for all officers in Ontario.
