Print | PDFLaurier’s Giving is Golden blood drive returns to the university’s Waterloo campus on Jan. 28. It’s the perfect chance for Golden Hawks to make a life‑changing difference by supporting Canadian Blood Services.
Here are five great reasons to roll up your sleeve and join in if you are eligible to give blood.
Canadian Blood Services reminds us that while one in two Canadians are eligible to donate, only one in 81 actually do. Your donation can support patients across the country who urgently rely on blood and blood products.
Some patients require specially matched blood that most often comes from donors with similar ethnic backgrounds. Laurier’s diverse campus community is uniquely positioned to help fill this critical need.
The clinic runs from 10:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. in the Senate and Board Chamber, just above the Dining Hall. Expect a warm welcome, a quick nurse screening, an online questionnaire and, of course, snacks and gratitude. Book with a friend or colleague for extra good vibes.
Laurier joined Canadian Blood Services’ Partners for Life program in 2010, with university donors already contributing more than 5,000 life‑saving donations to Canada’s Lifeline to date. Adding your contribution to that impact is easy and meaningful.
All donors at the Giving is Golden blood drive can enter a draw for round‑trip tickets for two to any Air Canada scheduled destination — a golden bonus for doing good.
Members of the student club Get Swabbed at Laurier will be recruiting donors for Canada’s stem cell registry at the Giving is Golden event. Stop by the club’s booth in the Senate and Board Chamber foyer to learn about stem cell donations and how you could be someone’s life-saving match.
