Laurier will be closed on Monday, January 26, 2026, due to severe weather. The closure is for both the day and night and will resume as normal Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at 6 a.m. unless communicated otherwise. During the closure, all buildings will be controlled access, which means you require a OneCard to access buildings. The library on the Waterloo campus is closed.

Closing the university means that:
- All in-person classes are cancelled. Instructors of cancelled in-person classes can choose to hold a virtual session at the regularly scheduled time with notice to their students, reschedule their class, provide virtual asynchronous learning material, and/or revise their course plans.
- Virtual synchronous classes continue as scheduled.
- All in-person assessments (tests, quizzes, midterms, final exams) are cancelled.
- All virtual assessments (tests, quizzes, midterms, final exams) continue as scheduled, regardless of the course mode of delivery (in-person or virtual).
- In-person final exams, including deferred exams, will be rescheduled by the Registrar.
- In-person quizzes, tests, and midterms will be rescheduled by the course instructor (or the Department or Faculty for centrally scheduled midterms).
- Due dates for assignments to be submitted virtually remain unchanged regardless of the course mode of delivery (in-person or virtual).
- In-person submissions will be due at the next regularly scheduled class or as directed by the instructor.
- In-person meetings and other in-person scheduled events on campus are cancelled. Organizers of non-academic online meetings and events will determine and communicate if non-academic online meetings and events scheduled for (date campus closed) will continue in the usual manner.
- Staff, other than those needed for essential services, are expected to perform their work remotely if operationally feasible and in consultation with their supervisor.
- Staff performing essential services are expected to be on site.
- Staff and students who require flexibility or accommodations because of the impacts of inclement weather closures today for schools and other services should connect directly with their managers or instructors to discuss.
- All in-person university services are closed. Access to all remote and online university services will continue in the usual manner.
