Join us at Laurier

Being a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

This program is for university students who are studying business or who have an interest in international business, and for working professionals who want to improve their English. You'll study at Laurier for four weeks to improve your English-language skills while focusing on business through site visits to international companies such as SunLife Financial, Apotex Pharmaceuticals, and Toyota, one-on-one engagement with your business professors, and classes on business culture and other key skills required in today’s international business environment. There are also networking opportunities with other students in the program and local business leaders.

The LEAF Business English Program provides you with the opportunity to improve your English, meet people from around the world, focus on concepts in international business, and take classes on business culture and other key areas required in today’s international business environment. You’ll do site visits and have the opportunity to network with local business leaders. While in Brantford, you'll study with Laurier's School of Business and Economics professors as well as the LEAF Program's experienced English instructors.

This program is for you if:

  • You are a university student studying business, or have an interest in international business.
  • You have a high-intermediate to advanced level of English (CEF B2 or IELTS 6).
  • You are a working professional looking for a short-term program to improve your communication skills.

Classes

Our emphasis is on using a multi-skills approach to help you thrive in an international business context. All courses include dynamic participation, group work and collaboration, team-building activities, and critical thinking. We also set aside time for you to receive personalized help and feedback from our instructors, so you can hone the skills you need to improve on your own.

How to Apply

We recommend that students applying for this program have an IELTS score of 5.5 or TOFEL score of 55 to ensure they are able to actively participate.
