The Beckett School at Laurier is pleased to introduce our first summer camp dedicated entirely to group music making! Participants will be placed instrumental duos, trios, quartets, and quintets and will be assigned repertoire based on their instrument and level.
Led by instructor Dave O'Neill, this 8-week long ensemble for adults will focus on learning, rehearsing, and performing songs in the blues, rock, and popular music styles. We will trace a brief but concise history of the birth and development of these music styles.
Guitarists, bassists, vocalists, drummers, horns, strings, and those instruments typically not associated with these styles are welcome!
A PA and drum set will be provided. All other instruments will need to be supplied by the participant, including amplifiers.
Basic proficiency on your instrument is required. (For example: basic knowledge of guitar chords).
In the beginning, there was rhythm! Led by instructor Dave O'Neill, this 6-week long Percussion based music ensemble for 16+ year olds will focus on learning, rehearsing, and performing rhythmic songs that draw on elements of world percussion styles. Bring your d'jembe's, bongos, congas, whatever you have. If you can hit it, it’s all good! Some percussion instruments will also be available at the school.
