Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

I hold a Bachelor of Music (BMus) from Laurier.
Teaching music lessons is my passion, and I love to watch students learn and grow. I discovered my love for music at a young age with the piano and saxophone, and I've spent the past 30 years making music my life’s work. I earned my BMus in 2003, majoring in classical saxophone performance under the instruction of Dave Wiffen. I have spent the past 15 years building a career as a performer, clinician, accompanist and private instructor for woodwinds, piano and music theory.
Most of my students come to me as beginners, but I work with intermediate- and advanced-level students as well. I'm happy to work with people of all ages and my students range from young kids to seniors. I believe in holding a high standard of practice and using positive and encouraging methods to help students reach their full potential. Although it is not a requirement, I support my students in doing Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) exams and performing in the Kiwanis Festival. Those who participate have achieved high grades and top placements. I also support my students in recital participation – even the shy ones! This is a great way to grow confidence and motivation both in music and in our daily lives.
You will find me active in the Kitchener-Waterloo (KW) area as a performer, and I really enjoy getting involved in all styles of music. You might find me sitting in an orchestra, or getting my groove on with one of my rock bands. Most recently I’ve been playing with The Crazy Diamonds Band, Lofi Mind Folk Collective, the Royal City Sax Quartet and the Wellington Wind Symphony. I've played saxophones, flute and clarinet for many musical theatre productions in KW and Guelph. Some of my recent shows include Suessical the Musical, Shrek the Musical, Grease and The Wizard of Oz.
"Danielle not only helps and encourages me to try my hardest and never give up, but she also believes in each and every one of her students. She has made such an impact on my life with music. The feeling is amazing—indescribable—after you learn a song. Thanks to Danielle I have experienced that feeling!"
