We are thrilled to showcase music featuring students in the Community Music stream and in the Composition stream specializing in Integrated Musical Arts. This program will give you a taste of the breadth of music students are playing, capturing diverse genres and styles, with many of the songs written by the performers themselves.
Griffin Noriega-Rivas, Jotham Sennema, and Felicia Chaves are in the Integrated Musical Arts (composition) stream of the Faculty of Music. Michelle Yang, Shatira Jackson, Melanie Medieros Cabral, Kieran Bates, and Matthew Hinojosa are in the Community Music stream.
This concert feature three award-winning community music students: Shatira Jackson won the NUMUS 2022/2023 Emerging Improviser Contest. Felicia Chaves and Melanie Medieros Cabral recently placed 1st and 2nd respectively in Contemporary Commercial Music at the National Association of Teachers of Singing Vocal Showcase.
