Print | PDFSophie Kim is a 4th year student at Wilfrid Laurier University, studying piano performance with Anya Alexeyev since 2019. Along with her passion for solo piano repertoire, she is an avid chamber musician, choir accompanist, and collaborative pianist. She loves to play the piano because in addition to its power to touch the heart, it helps her to practice mindfulness.
Born in Korea where her first piano lessons began, her family immigrated to Canada when she was 10. After living in Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan, she is now settled in Waterloo. In previous years, she has participated in various local, provincial, national competitions and have attended the Casalmaggiore International Music Festival (Italy), Adamant Music School (USA) and Tuckamore Chamber Music Festival (Canada). She was one of the winners of the Laurier Concerto Competition in the 2019-20 academic year.
