Join us at Laurier

Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

Academic Partnership: Randolph College for the Performing Arts

This unique academic partnership between Laurier and Randolph College for the Performing Arts (RCPA) is designed to allow students to earn both their Bachelor of Music with a concentration in Self-Directed Studies and their Performing Arts diploma in only four years.

Participants must successfully graduate from RCPA’s two-year Performing Arts diploma program before transferring to Laurier to complete their Bachelor of Music. Students applying to Laurier will receive 10.0 transfer credits. To complete your degree at Laurier, you must complete 10.0 additional credits (two additional years of full-time study):

Music Courses (200, 300 or 400-level)

  • 6.5 – 10.0 MU credits, including:
    • at least 3.0 credits at the 300-level
    • at least 1.0 credit at the 400-level
    • at least 0.5 applied study credits
  • 3.0 – 5.0 credits from some combination of Culture and Society (at least 1.0 credit), Performance and Production, and Style and Structure (at least 1.0 credit)
    • Maximum 0.5 credit total from IMA Creation (MU442), IMA Production (MU443) and IMA Performance (MU444) courses

Electives

  • 0.0 – 3.5 MU or non-MU credits

Enrolment at both Laurier and RCPA requires successful completion of an audition with each institution.

Regardless of whether Laurier or RCPA is attended first, students must apply for transfer to the other program within 10 years of their final year enrolled in a qualifying program at their initial institution.

Learn More About Transferring to Laurier

If you have additional questions about your transition to Laurier, financial aid for transfer students or transfer credit evaluation, visit our transfer students website. If you are interested in transferring into this program with an academic history different than what is outlined above, apply using the 105 application form and your transfer credits will be assessed on an individual basis and reported to you, along with your offer letter, upon admission to Laurier.

Note: Not all program requirements are reflected in these pathway descriptions. It is the responsibility of the student to ensure that all academic program and course requirements have been met. Refer to regulations in the academic calendar and connect with an academic advisor once you have accepted your offer.
