PhD in Management, Marketing
After more than a decade of being a marketing practitioner, I decided to switch from industry to academia. My thinking was that I should leverage my corporate experience, and that is why I decided to pursue a PhD in marketing strategy. I was looking for a program in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) that allows me to do research in international marketing. The program that suits my profile should provide me with a solid theoretical foundation with an opportunity to benefit from my real-world experience. I heard about Dr. Nicole Coviello and her research in marketing strategy, and after a long conversation with her over the phone, I realized that the PhD program at Laurier is the best fit for me.
During my time at Laurier, I found out that I made the right decision by enrolling at Laurier. The faculty, staff, and students are friendly and supportive, and I consider these factors to be important for any PhD student.
Overall, my research is situated under the International Marketing and International Entrepreneurship literature. My main research interest is to dig deeper into the outcomes of the pace of internationalization for global Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
More specifically, I study how the pace of internationalization influences the globalization of a firm. I also study the role of absorptive capacity and diversity of top management in the foreign expansion of global SMEs.
My goal is to establish myself as a key scholar in international marketing and to focus my research on answering unresolved questions related to the international expansion of young and independent firms. I aim to have a placement in academics that allows me to conduct rigorous research and to connect with students with a reasonable load of teaching.
