Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

Caitlyn McComb (BA '18)

"North American Studies provided me with a unique opportunity to enhance my Global Studies degree by adding a more local perspective.

"The program has outstanding professors that encourage their students to be involved in class and assist them in finding personal areas of interest. Likewise, the smaller nature of classes within the program allows students to get to know their professors. This program has equipped me with the tools to work in and around challenges facing North American today. But it has also inspired me to pursue further studies in this field."

Meredith Giel (BA '12)

"The breadth and multidisciplinary nature of the curriculum within the North American Studies program at Laurier allowed me to develop skills, knowledge and experiences which have benefited me in both graduate school and as I embark on a new career following graduation. These skills include lateral thinking and versatility, as well as the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

"One of the many benefits of this program was the dynamic curriculum, which evolved to keep up to date with changing events in North America. As the program explored many different facets of North America including history, foreign policy, etc., I found that I gained a very well-rounded view of North America’s place in the world."
