Look into Laurier

Join us at Laurier

Being a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

Hello future Golden Hawks!

I am so thrilled that you are considering Laurier as your future home. My name is Nethmi Kulatilake and I am currently in my fourth year of my Bachelor of Arts in Global Studies, with the Legal Studies and co-op options. Laurier has, without a doubt, shaped me into the person I am today and I could not be more grateful.

I chose to come to Laurier after a tour in my last year of high school. As soon as I came to campus, I felt welcomed and I felt like I was home. I felt Laurier's sense of community immediately and I loved the small campus. Everyone seemed to know one another and seemed so connected and I now know that to be so true! In my first year, I lived in residence and was part of my residence House Council. In my second year, I volunteered as an icebreaker and as a member of Food Bank. In my third year, I worked as a Residence Life Don and volunteered with EcoHawks. Now, in my fourth year I am a second-time Don and a first-time Campus Ambassador. Every single one of these extracurricular experiences has shaped my growth and development, not only as a student but also as a person. My small classes have contributed to my education in such incredible ways. I have great relationships with my professors in Global Studies, who come from all walks of life and have such amazing backgrounds which make their lectures so valuable and transformational. This is definitely common at Laurier – you are not just a number.

Laurier has been so good to me and I know that it will be good to you, should you choose to join our Golden Hawk family. I wish you the best of luck. Stay golden and welcome!
