Fourth-Year Political Science
Choosing the university that you want to attend is one of the hardest decisions you will make in your life. You probably cannot make a bad choice with the school you pick, but you certainly can make a great pick! My name is Jordan Baechler, and when I picked Wilfrid Laurier University, I knew I was making a great choice!
Coming to Laurier, I noticed right away how welcoming and inclusive the student community was! From my first campus tour, first day of school and every day since then, it has made me so happy to see the positivity and student opportunities on campus. This school spirit made me very motivated to get involved! Besides being a Campus ambassador, I have been involved with the Laurier Law Society, The Cord Student Newspaper, and football, basketball and soccer Intramurals.
While there are so many great extracurricular opportunities that have been made available to me by Laurier, it does not even begin to account for the academic opportunities that have been available. Coming to school as a sociology student, the exploratory first year allowed for me to find my passion for politics, and switch to being a political science student for my second year. Since then, I have been able to study riveting and important political issues, meet Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on campus, study past and present Canadian and American elections and converse with students who share my passions.
I have two pieces of advice for all prospective students. Make sure that you get out and take a tour of all the schools you’re contemplating, because you need to feel at home at the school you choose. And make sure you get involved and make the most of your time here!
Best of luck!
