Look into Laurier

Join us at Laurier

Being a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

Future Golden Hawks – welcome to Laurier!

First, let me start off by saying hello and introducing myself. My name is Elyse Mulhall and I’m a fourth-year Communication Studies and Global Studies double major, with a minor in Religion and Culture. This is my third year as a campus ambassador, and I am so excited for you to learn more about Laurier, and to fall in love with this amazing community, just as I did.

Coming to Laurier and getting involved was something that I was very passionate about and eager to do. Fortunately for me, Laurier has endless possibilities for getting involved, and it has been one the best decisions I’ve made during my time as a Golden Hawk. Getting involved allowed me to meet people I had a lot in common with, while learning so much from fellow students and faculty members. With over 175 clubs, Laurier has something for everyone!

During my first year at Laurier, I lived in King Street Residence and was a part of several campus clubs, including my residence House Council (which is like your high school student council) where I was able to plan fun events for students.

I chose Laurier because it immediately felt like home and surpassed my expectations. Being a Waterloo local, I wanted to find a school that had strong academics, great school spirit and endless extracurricular opportunities, and with Laurier I found exactly what I was looking for.

Deciding where you will spend the next four years after high school can be a nerve-racking time, but also extremely exciting. Four years ago, I was exactly where you are now, and my best advice is to go with your gut and decide what is best for you. I am so happy that you are considering choosing Laurier! For me, Laurier became my home instantly, and I hope it will for you, too. Be sure to come for a campus tour to see all of wonderful things this school has to offer, and best of luck deciding!
