Join us at Laurier

Being a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

Campus Ambassador
Fourth-Year History
Uxbridge, ON

Hi there, future Golden Hawks! Whether you are considering attending Laurier, or you have already accepted your offer of admission, I am so excited to welcome you to this amazing school! My name is Ellie Smith, and I am going into my fourth year of honours History. This is my first time as an ambassador for the school that I call home, and I look forward to giving you a tour.

I moved to Canada when I was fifteen, and by the time I was ready for university, I didn’t think I would find a school that was the right fit for me. However, as soon as I came for a campus tour at Laurier, I fell in love! The small campus was just what I was looking for, and there were so many great opportunities for me, in both academics and extracurricular activities. Everyone I came into contact with had such a clear passion and love for Laurier, and, after that day, I knew I wanted to experience the pride of being a Golden Hawk.

I have been involved in many areas of campus life, from Diversity Executive for our fabulous Orientation Week, to volunteering with the Students’ Union Hiring and Recruitment team. I also work on campus, and can now say that I make a mean double-shot, extra hot, caramel infused latte.

I absolutely love Laurier because I can honestly say that I have a family here. I was such a nervous first year when I moved in, but within weeks I had new best friends and a brand new purple and gold home. I have had the pleasure of calling this place home for the past three years, and cannot wait for you to experience the school spirit when you take a tour with one of our fabulous ambassadors!
