The COVID-19 crisis continues to cause disruption for people around the world, including students here at Laurier.
We appreciate the uncertainty this creates for those of you trying to making housing decisions for the fall 2020 term.
Laurier is working closely with public health officials to determine when and how to facilitate a safe return to classrooms. We fully intend to offer a fall term. However, on-campus activities and course-delivery may be modified to abide by public health directives and overall safety concerns.
We hope to provide you with a clearer picture of what the fall term will look like by mid-June. Meanwhile, we are accepting residence applications for both our Waterloo and Brantford campuses for the September 2020 – April 2021 academic year. To ease the financial pressures felt by many students at this time, Laurier is waiving the $600 deposit that we typically require for residence applications. In the event that physical-distancing requirements reduce our residence capacity for fall 2020, we will make any necessary adjustments during our residence-room assignment process. This may impact our residence guarantee.
For those considering whether to sign a lease for private off-campus housing, this decision is up to each individual. The university hopes to provide a clearer picture of the fall term by mid-June. For information about tenant rights, please visit the following resources:
