Being a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.


Congratulations on receiving an offer of admission from Laurier! Now that you have an offer of admission, you must do the following:

Activating Your myLaurier Email Account

The official means of communication between you and Laurier is through your myLaurier Gmail account. You should check your Laurier email regularly over the summer months and throughout your time at Laurier, as it will be used to communicate important information to you from staff and faculty.

The myLaurier Student Gmail system is only available to you after you have confirmed your offer of admission and after Laurier has received that confirmation, which may take several days.

Once your myLaurier Gmail account is ready for activation, we’ll send you an email to the personal email address you used on your application. You can then access your Laurier email by doing the following:

  1. Visit g.mylaurier.ca.
  2. Enter your Laurier username and Laurier password. Your username and password are the same as when logging into LORIS. If you have never logged into LORIS, your default password is preset to your date of birth in the format MMDDYYYY. If you have lost this email or you are unsure of your password, please contact the ICT Service Desk at support@mylaurier.ca.
  3. You’ll have to choose a new password as soon as you log in for the first time.

Register for Password Self-Service

You will also need to register for password self-service by following the instructions below. This will allow you to reset your password or unlock your account in the future.

  1. Go to iam.wlu.ca.
  2. Log in with your Laurier Network Login username and password.
  3. Select the Enrolment tab at the top of the screen. Follow the instructions on the screen to enrol for password self-service.

Deferrals

We understand that circumstances may arise that prevent you from enrolling for the term specified on your offer of admission. In such cases, a deferral of admission may be warranted. Deferrals may be granted for one full academic year to students beginning their studies at Laurier for the first time.

Note: Deferrals are no longer being granted for fall 2018 admission. If you have not deferred your offer of admission and wish to attend Laurier in September 2018, you must reapply to fall 2018 using the appropriate 105 application through the Ontario Universities' Application Centre website.

Conditions of Deferment

  • Deferrals will only be considered for applicants to undergraduate degree programs.
  • All conditions on the original offer of admission must be satisfied before a deferral will be granted.
  • Entrance scholarships will be deferred.
  • Applicants who enrol in academic courses at another postsecondary education institute during the period of deferment will void their offer of admission, and are then required to reapply to Laurier and disclose any new academic information.
  • Applicants who return to a high school during their period of deferment must submit an updated transcript and may be reassessed for an updated scholarship.
  • Deferrals are not available to applicants admitted to the Faculty of Music except by special permission from the dean.
  • Deferrals are not available to applicants with offers to the LEAF program.

Deferral Process Checklist

  1. Confirm your offer of admission. Please see your official offer letter on LORIS for further details.
  2. Submit the Offer of Admission Deferral Request Form and submit the $60 non-refundable administrative fee by cheque only to the Recruitment and Admissions office mailing address by the deadline indicated below. Please make cheques payable to Wilfrid Laurier University.
  3. Reconfirm your intent to enrol by submitting the Readmission Form: Deferred Applicants, that will be emailed to you, no later than the date indicated below.
  4. If you wish to live in residence beginning in a fall term, apply for residence and submit the non-refundable deposit by the June deadline of the academic year you wish to begin. For all other terms, please contact housing@wlu.ca to inquire about space availability.
