Join us at Laurier

Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

There are two ways you can support your application to Laurier.

Applicant Background Summary Form

At Laurier, we believe extracurricular involvement and personal achievements are important. You can choose to submit extracurricular information that may be used for admission consideration by submitting the Applicant Background Summary (ABS) form after you apply. The form is optional but we do recommend you fill it out. Applicants to the Faculty of Music do not need to complete the form as additional information is collected through the audition process.

How to Complete Your Applicant Background Summary Form

  • Go to the LORIS website.
  • Log in using your Laurier Network username and password. If this is your first time using LORIS, log in with your temporary Laurier password, which is preset to your date of birth in the format MMDDYYYY. (You’ll need to change your PIN and add secret questions as soon as you log in).
  • Select the "Admissions" tab, click on the "Applicant Background Summary Form," and follow the steps to complete the form on LORIS.

Note: If you have applied to more than one Laurier program on your OUAC application, you only need to submit the ABS form once.

Deadline

Submit the Applicant Background Summary form within two weeks of applying to Laurier.

Special Case/Extenuating Circumstances

If you believe any present or recent circumstances have adversely affected your ability to achieve a strong academic standing, you may provide supporting details through a personal statement addressed to Laurier's Recruitment and Admissions office. You can choose to submit this information by email to international@wlu.ca or by mail. You should submit this information within two weeks of applying to Laurier.

Note: This is a different review process from the Applicant Background Summary (ABS) form. Should you choose to submit the electronic ABS form, please do not include information about extenuating circumstances. These items should be submitted separately.
