Laura Allan is an assistant professor in the Lazaridis School of Business and Economics. In addition to her teaching, Laura is also the executive director of the Schlegel Centre for Entrepreneurship & Social Innovation. Laura has acted as academic editor, written chapters and been co-author on 3 different introduction to Canadian business textbooks and currently coordinates BU121. In this role she runs 2 first-year BBA competitions - the PepsiCo Pitch and BDO New Venture. She also runs a second-year BBA competition - the IKEA Sustainability Challenge.
Her greatest interests are supporting young entrepreneurs and helping students succeed in the transition from high school to university. She is currently the AshokaU Changemaker Campus leader and a John Dobson Fellow. She is also the faculty advisor for Laurier's Waterloo campus Enactus team, building social enterprises and competing against other campus teams worldwide. To support student success, she started working in the field of emotional intelligence (EI). Laura is certified to administer and interpret the EQi, speaks on the subject, and has done work with both her students and local companies to improve performance through improving their EI.
