Schnabel has been with Laurier since July 1986. He has held teaching positions at the University of Technology in Sydney, Australia, the University of Calgary in Alberta, Arizona State University in Tempe, Universidad de Santiago de Chile, the University of New Hampshire, the Czech Management Center in Celakovice and the School of Economics and Business Administration of Chongqing University in China.
He has taught executive development seminars in Toronto, Port of Spain (Trinidad), Manila (Philippines - University of Asia and the Pacific), and the Chilean cities of Santiago and La Serena and has served as a consultant for the Qatar National Research Foundation.
Schnabel teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in corporate and international financial management and derivative securities.
