Join us at Laurier

Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

In the Faculty of Social Work, we believe that you never stop learning. Our professional development program offers more than 200 continuing education workshops a year. Whether you’re looking to upgrade your skills, complement your education or explore new areas of interest, our professional development program can help you achieve your goals.

Certificates

We offer 10 non-credit professional development certificates. Our workshops and courses provide experiential, interactive learning opportunities through online, in-person and remote training options. All of our courses are facilitated by highly qualified, knowledgeable instructors with considerable experience in their area of expertise. You can take any of the courses and workshops associated with our certificates without working towards earning the certificate.

Dare to Lead

Today, more than ever, workplaces are confronted with unprecedented challenges and climates of change, innovation and demand. Based on the work of research professor and social worker Brené Brown, Dare to Lead™ is a two-day workshop that encourages you to meet these challenges by working from a place of courage rather than fear and by learning to stand with your arms wide open in times of uncertainty.

The 2021/2022 Dare to Lead™ workshop dates will be posted on our website on July 12, 2021.
