Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

I received my MSc and PhD in Health Studies and Gerontology from the University of Waterloo and an Honours BA in Psychology and Physical Education from Wilfrid Laurier University. Prior to joining Laurier on a full-time basis, I was a postdoctoral fellow in the School of Public Health and Health Systems at the University of Waterloo and a long-term member of the contract academic staff at Laurier (2004-2013) in the Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education and the Department of Health Sciences.
My broad research interests encompass nutrition, obesity and chronic disease prevention/management. I am currently working in the area of nutrition and breast cancer survivorship, with a focus on relationships between dietary changes after diagnosis, body composition, disease recurrence and long-term survival.
I am willing to supervise undergraduate students in the areas of nutrition, nutrition and chronic disease, body composition and cancer survivorship.
