I received my PhD (2020) in Developmental Psychology and MASc (2015) in Developmental and Communication Science from the University of Waterloo. Prior to joining Laurier at the Milton campus, I was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Toronto, Scarborough and a program evaluation specialist at LOFT Community Services.
My research focuses on children's social cognitive development. I am interested in how children make emotion inferences and the factors they consider when doing so. I am also interested in the relation between children's and adults' close counterfactual reasoning and emotion inferences.
I am always happy to hear from students interested in studying people's emotion understanding, counterfactual reasoning, or even social cognition more broadly. Students interested in working with me are encouraged to reach out (tdoan@wlu.ca).
