I received my PhD in Human Kinetics from the University of Ottawa in 2024 and my MSc in Kinesiology from York University in 2018. Prior to joining Laurier, I was a postdoctoral fellow at Queen's University. My academic interests are grounded in my experience as a coach at community, competitive, and high-performance contexts.
My research examines the psychology of athlete development, and specifically how to make athletes' sport experiences more positive, effective, and sustainable. I focus on three interrelated areas: (1) how athletes engage and learn in practice, through processes of interest development and self-regulated learning; (2) how learning and development are supported through enhanced rest, recovery, and wellbeing; and (3) how these processes are shaped by social and developmental contexts such as coaching, team dynamics, and youth sport environments. With a focus on intensive longitudinal methods, my work aims to inform coaching practice, coach education, and the design of developmentally appropriate sport systems.
