Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

I was born and raised in the Leamington area of south-western Ontario. Early on, I became interested in theatrics and public speaking, and in my teens I worked as a part-time newscaster at the local radio station. This experience has proven to be invaluable in my teaching.
I came to Waterloo as a student and after getting my first degree stayed on at Laurier. I have taken 2 major breaks, the first to teach English in Czechoslovakia in 1991, and the second to lecture in computer science at the University of Waterloo.
I have 3 children, Deborah, Tasmin, and Tristan, and many good friends.
