Artshine

Artshine for ages 5-7: Monsters and Aliens 

  • Date: July 8-12, 2019
  • Time: 9 a.m.–noon

Explore the world of brightly coloured paints and crazy creatures. Why monsters and aliens? They have no rules! They can have as many eyes and arms as you like. Maybe they walk on their heads and see with their feet! This is the place to let your creativity run wild. Campers will present their work at an art show on the last day of camp. Materials are included.

Artshine for ages 5-7: Fantasy and Magic

Dragons, unicorns and wizardry! This week will be packed full of imagination. And glitter! Definitely, glitter. Bring home your own spell books, potions and fantastical fantasy art. Enter the magical world of fairy tales, where maybe you will take on a dragon or even learn to fly! Campers will present their work at an art show on the last day of camp. Materials are included.

Artshine for ages 7-10: Classic Art with a Modern Twist

  • Time: 1 - 4 p.m.

What a fun and easy way to explore the classics! From Renaissance to Postmodern Impressionism. We will put our own twist on paintings inspired by painters like Van Gogh, da Vinci and let’s not forget Jackson Pollock! Campers will present their work at an art show on the last day of camp. Materials are included.

For a full-day experience with lunchtime supervision combine a half-day of Artshine with Music Mania. Get both camps for a discounted rate of $240.

Music Mania

  • Ages: 5–7
  • Dates: July 8-12, 2019 or July 22-26, 2019

Discover and explore the world of music with daily piano activities, games, crafts, singing, guest artists and more! This is a great introduction to the world of keyboard instruments and an introduction to guitar, clarinet, cello, and organ. A perfect camp for children with limited or no musical experience.

Music Explorers

  • Ages: 7–10
  • Dates: July 22-26, 2019

A chance to further explore the world of music through piano lessons, singing in a choir, learning Orff instruments, a composer series, music inspired games, crafts and technology. This is the perfect camp for children wishing to continue their music education.

Music and Drama Magic

  • Ages: 7–13
  • Dates: July 8-12, 2019 or August 12-16, 2019
  • Time: 9–4 p.m.
  • Cost: $260 (materials included)
  • Instructors: Anne Lukaszewicz and Rebekah Jordan-Miller

Discover the magical world of drama and song as we create and perform a musical in just five days! Acting, singing, prop and costume-making are all part of the fun. Materials are included.

Jazz for Adults

  • Ages: 18+ (all ages welcome)
  • Dates: July 15-19, 2019
  • Time: 9 a.m.–3 p.m.
  • Cost: $320
  • Instructor: Mary-Catherine Pazzano

Join local jazz singer Mary-Catherine Pazzano and other talented jazz mentors in a week-long jazz camp geared towards adult singers and/or instrumentalists. Musicians and students of all musical levels are welcome! You will learn about jazz-style performance and technique within
a combo setting. Rehearse all week and then showcase
your talents on Friday, July 19! Materials are included.

Summer Strings

  • Ages: All ages (min. Grade 5 RCM proficiency)
  • Dates: July 31, August 1, 6, 7 & 8, 2019
  • Time: 1 - 5 p.m.
  • Cost: $300

This five-day intensive workshop is an introduction to chamber music for those with little experience and an opportunity for more accomplished players to refine their skills. You will receive daily coaching and will learn from professional string instructors as they facilitate masterclass and group rehearsals. The week will culminate with a recital. Email beckettschool@wlu.ca by May 24 to submit an application. Acceptance is based on ensemble needs. Materials are included.
