I am an archaeologist and numismatist interested in ancient and early medieval South Asian history, with a particular focus on Kashmir and the Western Himalayas. I received my Ph.D. in South Asian Archaeology and Ancient Indian History from Deccan College Post-Graduate and Research Institute in Pune, India. My doctoral research examined Kashmir’s monetary history from the sixth to thirteenth centuries CE through coins, inscriptions, hoards, die studies, typology, mint production, geographic distribution, archaeological contexts, and scientific metallurgical analysis. My broader interests include Kushan, Kidarite, and Hunnic coinage and early medieval heritage landscapes, museum collections, digital documentation, GIS-based archaeological mapping, epigraphy, and economic history across Kashmir and neighbouring Central Asian regions and the wider northwestern world.
My ongoing projects include research on Kidarite and Hunnic coinage (early 4th to late 5th century) of Kashmir, scientific and metallurgical analysis of gold and copper coins from museum collections, and collaborative work on digital documentation, GIS mapping, and heritage preservation from Kushan through early medieval sites across Kashmir and connected transregional landscapes.

- Recipient of The Neil Kreitman Central Asian Numismatic Endowment by the Royal Numismatic Society for supporting research on Kidarite numismatic heritage of Kashmir (2026)
- Recipient of The Nicholas Lowick Memorial Fund for the promotion of Oriental Numismatic Research by the Royal Numismatic Society for research on early medieval northern Indian coinage, especially Kashmir and Punjab, through the study of numismatic collections and archival resources at major UK institutions including the British Museum, British Library, Ashmolean Museum and Bodleian Library (2021-2024)
- Recipient of The International Numismatic Council research grant-in-aid to conduct scientific analysis of late Kushans, Kidarite, post-Kidarite and imitation Kidarite debased gold coin collection and unpublished hoards housed at the Sri Pratap Singh Museum and the Centre of Central Asian Studies, University of Kashmir and the British Museum (2026-ongoing)
