I hold a PhD in Political Science from the University of Toronto, as well as a BA in Philosophy and an MA in Political Science and Government from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP).
My research focuses on Latin American decolonial thought, critical theory, Hegel's social and political philosophy, and global histories of modern political thought.
I am also a member of the Grupo de Investigación sobre la Actualidad del Pensamiento de Hegel at PUCP.
My research examines modernity, coloniality, and their contradictions from a global perspective, bringing Latin American decolonial thought into dialogue with Western traditions of social and political critique. My current projects pursue this dialogue through a reconstruction of decolonial thought, particularly Aníbal Quijano’s social ontology of coloniality and Arturo Escobar’s theory of the pluriverse; an engagement with Rahel Jaeggi’s critique of forms of life; and a critical examination of G. W. F. Hegel’s philosophy concerning colonialism, state expansion, and world history. I also investigate the implications of decolonial thought for understanding the contemporary liberal international order.
