I am a political scientist who specializes in the study of political violence and atrocity crimes, international human rights laws and norms, transitional justice and international law, and international security.
I was previously a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council Postdoctoral Fellow at Western University (2021). I completed my PhD (2019) in political science at the University of Calgary. I also hold a MA (2013) in political science from Wilfrid Laurier University and a BA Hons. (2012) in history and international studies from the University of Waterloo.
I am currently serving as an editor for Genocide Studies and Prevention.
My first book project examined domicide (the intentional destruction of homes) as a human rights violation. My second book focussed on processes of forced displacement as a method of atrocity (genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes) perpetration. My third book examines barriers to Indigenous-Settler [Re]conciliation in Canada and built one of the largest databases of Settler perspectives on Reconciliation and Indigenous peoples.
I am currently working on additional book-length projects and a variety of articles as they relate to the interrelated topics of violence, rights, justice, and security.
I am open to supervising graduate students who are interested in topics related to violence, rights, justice, and security in the Master of Applied Politics program.
