Join us at Laurier

Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

"I cannot express what an amazing time I have been having in the UK. I have learned so much about the world, politics, law, cultures and myself too!

Studying abroad truly is a learning opportunity like no other. I experienced culture shock, which opened my eyes to life and what's happening on a global scale. This world is so huge and I want to visit and experience every part of it!

The person I am today is not the same person I was when I arrived in the UK in September 2018. And I am confident that I will not be the same person I am today when I graduate from Sussex in 2021, or Laurier in 2022. I will be forever grateful for experiences like these — the learning and growing that happens beyond the classroom."

"I really enjoy the relevance and wide range of applicability the subjects carry. Political Philosophy was my favourite course. It provided insightful looks into the thought surrounding modern politics. This program offers solid choices in and variety of courses, and a very engaging environment."

"My first two years in this program years have been amazing and I will miss my professors who made this program so special for me! My favourite professors are Gavin Brockett, Andrea Brown, Loren King, and Chris Anderson. All extremely invested and passionate about the course they taught — I always looked forward to attending class!

This program is relevant and applicable in life — the knowledge I obtain can lead to any path in life."

"I enjoyed the challenge of a condensed workload. Since I was learning upper-year content in younger years, this helped me gain new skills necessary to succeed. For example, multi-tasking, time management and knowing when to ask for help were some of the key skills I learned while being in this program. This program offers you the opportunity to finish both your undergraduate degree and attain a law degree in a shorter time period. Also, you gain many other cultural experiences that you will cherish for a lifetime."

"I love that my program gives me the opportunity to learn academically and learn from experiences. By attending the University of Sussex for three years, I will be able to have amazing experiences through travelling and living in a different part of the world. I also extremely enjoyed studying at Laurier for two years. Being a Laurier student taught me the meaning of community, hard work and having fun while succeeding.

My academic advisor for the Sussex program was able to take the stress away from taking a second-year course in the first semester of university while making sure that we were still challenged and succeeding. He is approachable in his office hours and his teaching style made the course interesting.

This program is unique and offers a great path for those who are willing to work hard in order to obtain a law degree. It is less time than the typical process and it has the amazing opportunity to live outside of Canada and experience what life is like in Europe.

I came to Laurier because of my program, but I stayed because of Laurier itself. I love this school and anyone can see how much it loves its community back."

"This program allows me to obtain a bachelor's degree in a shorter time span all while being able to travel Europe! At first I was sceptical about the Brantford campus, but I ended up loving it! The smaller campus made it possible for me to get to know my professors on a first-name basis which made me feel connected to the school."
