Explore Ancient Civilizations through Multiple Perspectives

For the Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Ancient Studies program, you'll study the ancient world through a variety of disciplines. You'll take courses on the ancient civilizations of Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and the Americas. But you can also take courses in History, Archaeology, Philosophy, and Religion in Culture as you explore the literature, myth, politics and philosophies of the first civilizations, including:

  • Egypt
  • Greece
  • Rome
  • China
  • Mesopotamia

Gain Skills for Your Future Career

In this program, you’ll learn how these ancient periods influence present and future culture, society, community relationships, and social and political development.

You’ll acquire the skills to assess the accuracy of historical information, custom and context. You'll also be able to provide direction and input on the development and use of historical references and materials.

In your fourth-year capstone seminar, you'll have an opportunity to gain hands-on research experience.

Enjoy the Flexibility of a Combined Program

Ancient Studies is a flexible program that allows you to develop and follow your interests. There are no prerequisites on courses. The flexibility of our program is ideally suited to those interested in combining Ancient Studies with a second major.
