Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

WATERLOO – Can governments in Canada and the U.S. engineer economic growth?

This is just one of the many pressing economic questions that will be discussed in depth at the Economic Outlook 2016 event on Nov. 10, hosted by the Laurier Centre for Economic Research and Policy Analysis (LCERPA).

The Economic Outlook 2016: Global Markets: Local Realities event will feature keynote addresses by Derek Burleton, vice-president and deputy chief economist of TD Bank Financial Group, and Jeffry Frieden, a professor of government at Harvard University and author of Currency Politics. Burleton and Frieden will address significant economic issues for the coming year, touching on questions such as “Will China’s economy dictate our economic future?” and “Will Ontario benefit from a new exchange rate reality?”

The event will take place Nov. 10 at 6:30 p.m. at the CIGI Auditorium, 57 Erb St. W. in Waterloo. Tickets are $29 plus tax and can be purchased at For more information on LCERPA, visit
