Being a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

WATERLOO – Can technology and manufacturing sectors in Waterloo Region survive growing foreign competition?

The answer to this and other pressing economic questions for the year ahead will be discussed in depth when the Laurier Centre for Economic Research and Policy Analysis (LCERPA) hosts its Economic Outlook 2015 event on Nov. 6.

The “Economic Outlook 2015: Steady as She goes?” event will feature a keynote address from Craig Alexander, senior vice president and chief economist of TD Financial Group, as well as a panel discussion between Christos Shiamptanis, associate professor of economics at Laurier and Janette MacDonald of the City of Kitchener and the Waterloo Region Collaborative Economic Research Group. These economic experts will address significant economic issues for the coming year, touching on questions such as “Is the European debt crisis finally over or are hard times looming ahead?” and “Will the US economy help to boost Canadian exports?”

The event will take place Nov. 6 at 6:30 p.m. at the CIGI Auditorium (57 Erb Street West). Tickets are $25 or $20 for Laurier alumni. To purchase tickets, visit laurieralumni.ca/economicoutlook. For more information on LCERPA, visit www.lcerpa.org.
