Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

General Camp Information

Is the LAUNCH Camp right for my child?

LAUNCH is an accelerated, problem-based camp for children going into grades 4-8. LAUNCH is designed for those students who are looking for more of a challenge to reach their full potential – the pace is much faster, the expectations for self-direction are much higher and the concepts are more advanced.

Our campers:

  • are working more than three grade levels above his/her grade (documentation required)
  • are self-directed learners
  • have deep knowledge in several different topics
  • are able to consider a problem situation from many diverse perspectives

What documentation is required for my child to be considered for the LAUNCH program?

Documentation consists of a psychoeducational assessment, an IPRC recommendation for gifted services or the completion of the supplemental application survey.

For returning LAUNCH campers, this documentation is only required once

What is the camp day schedule look like?

We run based on a traditional school day schedule; one 15 minute break in the morning, a one hour break for lunch and one 15 minute break in the afternoon.

What should I send with my child?

We recommend that all campers bring a reusable water bottle, hat, sunscreen, a nut-free lunch and snacks for break times, wear weather appropriate clothing, and have any prescriptions or medications (in original packaging) your child requires for the day.

What should I not send with my child?

Nut products, valuable belongings and technology. LAUNCH leaders or program staff do not take responsibility for personal items and technology (ie. cell phones) that a camper may bring with them to camp.

Is lunch provided for the camp?

Lunch and snacks are not provided for the duration of our Summer Camps but we do offer an option to purchase into a pizza lunch on the Friday of camp. The pizza lunch is offered at $2/slice, cheese or peperoni. Gluten and dairy-free options available. Pizza orders must be returned to camp leaders by Wednesday at 8:30 a.m.

Who are the LAUNCH Camp Leaders?

The LAUNCH programs are led by certified teachers or experts in the field and are carefully developed to be high quality learning experiences.
