Your life has been quite a journey so far, and it’s only just beginning. At Laurier, we want to help you succeed and inspire you to be the best you can be. That’s why we have plenty of programs in place to ensure your transition to university is a smooth one.
Headstart is a half-day orientation program for you and your parents where you’ll learn about academic programs and course requirements, learn how to sign up for courses, get involved on campus, and even have your photo taken for your Laurier OneCard (your student ID card). And while you’re off learning about Laurier, your parents will attend a session just for them to learn about the campus and how they can help you make the switch to university.
Want to experience a university classroom before September or develop your academic skills throughout the summer? Our Centre for Student Success offers preparatory programs just for you, such as TriAGe, a mathematics prep course that reinforces fundamental skills in trigonometry, algebra and geometry.
Beginning on Labour Day Monday, Orientation Week (O-Week) will kick off your university career in a fun way! The week is full of activities to introduce you to campus and to your fellow first-year students. Chances are you’ll meet some of your lifelong friends during this week.
If living at home is an option for you, you can still enjoy all the benefits and support that a residence community offers by joining LOCUS (Laurier Off-Campus University Students Program), which offers the support and fun of residence life – without the building!
A Week to Remember
Almost 4,000 students participated in orientation week in 2016.
