Join us at Laurier

Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

Campus Ambassadors
Fourth-Year Communications Studies
Barrie, Ontario

Hello! My name is Sarah Tyler and I am in my fourth year of Communication Studies with minors in both Anthropology and Film Studies. This is my second time around as a Campus Ambassador and I am super excited to share my love of Laurier with you and other potential future Golden Hawks! When I first stepped on campus I was overjoyed with the welcoming, spirited, and vibrant community that this university has to offer. I would strongly recommend coming for a tour to get to know the Laurier campus and to have your questions answered.

Accepting my offer to Laurier has hands-down been one of my best decisions ever. I was placed in Kings Court Residence in my first year, which is single apartment style. My Don, Hary, was there for the whole floor to encourage us to be our best selves, help us adjust to life in university, and to get our hearts fired up for Laurier!

There are so many ways to get involved around campus and in the surrounding community. In my first year I participated in residence activities, Hawk Weekend, Orientation Week and I was on the executive team for Women in Leadership Laurier. I also rushed Greek Life and I am the current President of Alpha Omega Sorority, one of the two sororities on campus! Whether you are interested in charity work, sports, arts, or even puns there is something for everyone! By participating in extra-curricular activities, you will become a well-rounded student and get to relax, which will help you stay focused when it is time for class. Laurier is an outstanding community to be a part of and no matter how unique you might be, we all come together in Laurier spirit wearing our purple and gold.

Choosing a university can be a tough decision, but the key is to find a place where you feel comfortable. Heading off to university can be exciting and scary all at the same time. If there is only one thing that you remember let it be that universities are all going to provide you with a solid education, but the experiences you have outside the classroom are what you will look back on for the rest of your life. Laurier is my home and I would love for you to call Laurier your home too!

I remember being in the position you are now and looking to where I would spend the next few years of my life. I am so happy that I chose Laurier and I invite you to come visit for yourself. I hope to see you around our amazing campus and that you have the opportunity to embrace life as a Golden Hawk!
