Being a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

Fifth-Year Business Administration

Hello and welcome to Laurier!

My name is Pareesa Bina, and I’m a fifth-year Honours Bachelor of Business Administration student specializing in Marketing, minoring in Economics and in the co-op option. I can’t wait for you to learn more and fall in love with Laurier, just like I did.

Getting involved through the many opportunities Laurier offers has been one the best decisions I’ve made during my time here. It has been a great way to meet people I have a lot in common with while learning so much from fellow students and faculty members. With over 200 school clubs and associations, Laurier has something for everyone!

In addition to on-campus opportunities, there are many international opportunities available to students. I was very fortunate to be chosen to travel to China with The Link (a Laurier club) to teach business to Chinese high school students, where I also had an incredible cultural learning experience! I was also able to study abroad twice during my time at Laurier, once to Kedge Business School in Marseille, France and again at Georgia Southern University in the USA! Studying abroad was one of the most incredible experiences of my life and it was such an easy process thanks to Laurier International.

I have loved being a student in the School of Business and Economics. We apply the concepts we learn in class, in our labs, competitions and presentations, which has been a very practical and well-rounded learning experience. In first year, my “New Venture” group made it all the way to the semi-finals of the competition where we presented our idea to Laurier graduates currently in very successful roles. It was great to get their feedback and insights on our idea and presentation!

There’s so much to love about Laurier; our amazing sense of community, school spirit and passion for school involvement are some of my favourites! I’m so happy to call Laurier home, and I hope you will be, too!
