Join us at Laurier

Being a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

Senior Campus Ambassador of Communications
Fourth-Year Psychology
Ottawa, ON

Hey future Golden Hawks!

I’m Laura D’Amico, and I’m a fourth-year student from Ottawa. I'm majoring in Psychology and minoring in Biology, which are the coolest programs ever (in my slightly biased opinion). I could not be more excited to be part of the Laurier ambassador team again this year!

Laurier is unlike any other place I’ve ever been. I’m sure you’ve heard/are going to hear over and over that it’s a tight-knit community and that could not be truer! As a first-year student, I loved that I never felt like a little fish in a big sea. Every Laurier student is a cherished and valued Golden Hawk right from the get-go, and uniqueness is accepted and celebrated here. There are over 200 clubs and groups on campus, so no matter what your interests, there’s something here for you!

During my first year, I had the opportunity to be vice-president of training and development on my House Council (reppin' Bricker whaaat!), as well as a member of Sam Lambert’s (president of our Student Union 2015) campaign team. I also participated in Laurier’s Got Talent which was so much fun! Nowadays, I get to coordinate the campus ambassador team, and work as vice president of communications on the Laurier chapter of Jack.org. I'm so excited to see what this year has in store.

Choosing a university is a difficult decision, but I’ve never had a second of doubt that I chose the right one. I wish you the best of luck on your exciting postsecondary journey and hope to see you on campus soon!
