Being a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

Third-Year Bachelor of Science in Geography
Shenyang, Liaoning, China

Hello everyone, my name is Guanglong (Zack) Pang, an international student from Shenyang, China. I am in my third year of the Geography program with the Environmental Science Option.

I came to Canada in 2012 and the memory of language and culture transitions are still fresh in my mind. I probably made more mistakes than anyone else, but I never stopped trying. The journey of self-improvement can be tough and discouraging sometimes, however, it is such a rewarding feeling to look back at those bitter stages and relish each of the achievements.

As an international student in Canada, you will be inevitably facing difficulties like I did, thus the importance of keeping your life balanced can never be stressed enough. I’m an eager listener and love to share my own experiences with any students. If you have any questions or simply just want to chat, you can reach me at Peace out and keep dancing.
