Join us at Laurier

Being a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

Hey future Golden Hawks!

My name is Elyse Williams and I am in my third year of Communication Studies with co-op, here at Laurier.

During a campus tour back in grade 12, I fell in love with Laurier as soon as I stepped on campus and felt like I was home. I was immediately drawn to Laurier’s tight-knit community and could feel the pride and school spirit that radiated across campus, and I decided this was something I wanted to be a part of. Laurier is not just a school you’ll attend for four years of your life, but rather a community that you will be a part of forever.

Since coming to Laurier I have taken advantage of the various opportunities we have for students. In my first year I was a member of my residence’s House Council and had the opportunity to plan and organize events for my community. Over the past two years I have volunteered with the Laurier Students’ Union as an icebreaker helping first-years with their transition into university. I have also had the opportunity to showcase my passion for Laurier by working for Laurier Athletics and Recreation’s marketing team as well as Laurier Alumni. Getting involved allowed me to meet new people and feel connected to the Laurier community, as well as learn, develop, and grow as a student. What makes Laurier unique is that after you graduate you will have developed skills and memories from both inside and outside the classroom which will contribute to your future success.

I could not be more excited to share with you all that Laurier has to offer and welcome you to the place you will soon call home.
