Join us at Laurier

Being a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

Hey future Golden Hawks!

My name is Ashley Walker and I am a fourth-year Communications major with a minor in Psychology. Choosing Laurier was one of the best decisions I have ever made, as the small campus size, community feel and opportunities to get involved appealed to me as a high school student.

In first year, my residence floor had a sign that said “The best days of your life begin today, welcome to Laurier” and at that time, I had no idea just how true that statement would become.

During my time at Laurier, I have gotten involved in everything that the university has to offer. I have been lucky enough to be a Campus Ambassador and also work at the Laurier Bookstore; both of these jobs have given me the incredible opportunity to share my love of Laurier with others. In my second year, I joined Laurier’s Students’ Union, which is one of the best decisions I have ever made, as it gave me the opportunity to join clubs and committees that represented things I am passionate about. This year I was given the amazing opportunity to coordinate the on-campus Emergency Response Team, and the volunteers on ERT have become my second family.

I have not only fallen in love with the extracurricular opportunities and the campus, but I have fallen in love with my program. Being in Communications has provided me with the opportunity to study everything that interests me, and the ability to complete a minor at the same time was a great option.

Laurier has become my second home and the friends I have made will be for life.

Class of 2021, the best days of your life begin today. Welcome to Laurier!
