Join us at Laurier

Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

Think Brantford is taking place on Saturday, May 26, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Our flexible event schedule means that you can plan your visit ahead of time to ensure you have the campus experience you are looking for.

If you have questions about the event, please contact our Communications and Welcome Centre Coordinator, Rachel Cavin at rcavin@wlu.ca.

Event Registration

We recommend that you register to receive advance information and reminders about the event. To register, use our campus tour booking and register for Think Brantford on May 26. It will say your tour time is 10 a.m.; however, tours will be ongoing throughout the event. By registering, you’re letting us know that you’re planning on coming to campus that day.

Register for Think Brantford.

Parking

Free parking is available throughout downtown Brantford on most city streets, including in and around the Laurier campus. Parking will also be available at on-campus parking lots. Use our virtual campus map to locate campus parking.

Signage and volunteers will be visible to help guests find available parking and direct them to the Research and Academic Centre, where main events are taking place, located at 150 Dalhousie Street.

Event Overview

The lobby of Research and Academic Centre (RAC), located at 150 Dalhousie Street, will be your first stop of the day. We will have volunteers ready to help direct you to campus and residence tours, the bus tour of the city or information sessions.

Experience Laurier

Over the course of Think Brantford, you’ll have the opportunity to meet current students, discuss your program of interest with staff and picture yourself in the shoes of a Laurier student.

Tour Campus

Our Campus Ambassadors will tour you around and show you all the sights and sounds of campus. All campus tours depart from the Research and Academic Centre lobby (RAC), located at 150 Dalhousie Street. Tours will be hosted on an ongoing basis between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and are 60 minutes in length. Please note that the last tour of the day will leave at 1:30 p.m.

Tour Residence

Campus tours will include a stop at a residence building. If you have visited us on campus before and would really like to focus this visit on residence, we recommend that you attend the Residence Life information session at 10 a.m.

In addition, when you visit our tour desk, you can indicate to the staff that you would like to see only residence. We will ensure we always have a Campus Ambassador available to take guests straight to a residence building.

Attend Information Sessions

Attend information sessions and hear directly from staff and current students about life on our Brantford campus, as well as get your questions answered. All information sessions will be held in the Research and Academic Centre (RCW) West room 203.

Residence Life – 10 a.m.

The Department of Residence will provide a complete overview of the residence experience. Presenters will be prepared to answer your questions about living in residence, our online application process and what to expect in your first year.

Money Matters – 11 a.m.

Looking to enhance your money management skills and confidence before you head to university? In partnership with Laurier’s Dollars and Sense Money Management program, this presentation will discuss budgeting, common student expenses, money saving tips as well as available resources and support for students. For those interested, we will wrap up the presentation with general information on the OSAP process.

Incoming Student Support – Noon

Hear a presentation on our comprehensive incoming student support program, new for fall 2018. We’ll talk about what to expect this summer as we help you prepare to come to Laurier, including course-registration webinars, Headstart days and Orientation Week. We’ll also share resources and tips on how we can help you succeed as an undergraduate student.

Save Time for Shopping

You can find some Golden Hawk swag at our campus bookstore, open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., located in the Research and Academic Centre East.
