Diabetes affects our Aboriginal communities at alarming rates. Over the last few hundred years, we have been exposed to drastic changes to our environment and lifestyle. With time, and with a “collective” effort by our people, we can restore our focus on healthy living in order to see a decrease and fade-out in the incidence of diabetes and take charge of our freedom.

Crystal MacDonald, Diabetes Prevention Coordinator (SOADI-West Central Region), will be joining us to make a healthy lunch soup using traditional foods, and provide some interactive teachings on healthy eating. A healthy lifestyle, such as regular exercise, healthy eating and a focus on holistic wellness, is the key to living in balance and preventing or delaying type 2 diabetes and other chronic diseases.
