Faculty of Science
Academic Partnership Program: Senior Students
The Faculty of Science Academic Partnership Program (APP) is intended to help first year students become integrated into the academic life of the University. Research has shown that the student who becomes “engaged” will do much better academically and personally than the student who maintains an isolated existence. In this program, first year students are partnered up with senior student mentors in their academic program. The expectation is that the senior student will share experiences, familiarize the new student with campus resources, and discuss study skills and time management. There will be additional opportunities to help identify an academic problem early on and to direct the new student to the appropriate academic advisor. PLEASE NOTE THAT A CUMULATIVE OVERALL GPA OF 7.0 IS REQUIRED TO ACT AS A MENTOR.
