Wilfrid Laurier University is committed to taking measures to help flatten the curve and contain the spread of COVID-19. Today, the Premier emphasized the importance of prioritizing the health and safety of the people of Ontario. Laurier is taking steps internally to adjust our operations to fully support this goal.
According to Public Health Agency of Canada and the Region of Waterloo Public Health, reducing the number of people gathering in workplaces will be an important prevention measure during the coming weeks. For this reason, we are taking the following approach which emphasizes working from home for employees who are able to perform their job duties remotely. This will temporarily shift our operations to a more virtual environment that will contribute to continuity of operations while limiting social contact and group gatherings.
Commencing Tuesday March 17th and through to Sunday April 5th, Laurier will be operating under the following framework, subject to review based on any further direction received from government and public health.
We understand that this is an unprecedented time. We need to be flexible and nimble, and focus on the core services needed to support the university’s mission. We appreciate all of the efforts of staff and faculty. Further direction and tools will be forthcoming from Human Resources to managers to assist them in implementing this framework and to address more specific questions.
Resources are available to support employees in their temporary working from home arrangements.
