We continue to update our stories of sharing, helping and kindness submitted by members of university community. Please take a moment to read, and to share your own stories by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or tagging Laurier in your social media posts.
March 27 key updates:
- We understand that many students are in challenging situations that are impacting your ability to complete the term at the level you had hoped to achieve. In response, Laurier is giving undergraduate and graduate students the option to convert final Winter 2020 course letter grades to a “credit” or “withdraw” format. The date for dropping all undergraduate and graduate Winter 2020 courses has been extended to April 7. Full details found in the message from Laurier’s interim Provost & Vice-President: Academic and in the Classes and Exams FAQs.
- A #RingingEndorsement: Noontime bells for front-line care. Martin Luther University College, federated with Laurier, is inviting schools, churches and all other institutions in Waterloo Region with bell towers to ring their bells for a full minute each day at noon to show appreciation for health-care workers and others on the front lines of the novel coronavirus pandemic. “As this health crisis makes us aware of our global interconnectedness, we invite other communities to join us in recognition and support of those who are labouring to mitigate the impact of this pandemic,” says Mark Harris, principal-dean of Martin Luther University College. Luther has teamed with the Balsillie School of International Affairs (BSIA) and the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI), for this public demonstration of support. The #RingingEndorsement campaign begins at noon Monday, March 30.
